The University of Oklahoma head women's basketball coach Sherri Coale is an honorary member of the Norman Cross Timbers Rotary Club.  She received her Honorary Member Certificate at the June 21, 2011 meeting.  The certificate was presented by Beverly DeWitt (left) who is the 2010-2011 club president.

Coach Coale was made an honorary member because she has distinguished herself by meritorious service in the furtherance of Rotary ideals.  She is making a difference locally and internationally by her service both on and off the basketball court.  She recently received the United Nations non-governmental organizations (NGO) Positive Peace Award in the sports coach category.  She and the women's basketball team are involved in many local and international service projects as evidenced by partnering with the Children's Department of the Norman Public Library as part of the Read to Win Family Story Times and they traveled to Haiti as part of earthquake relief.  Information about that trip is found at  http://www.christianchronicle.org/blog/2011/06/church-member-hoops-coach-sherri-coale-recalls-powerful-missin-trip-to-haiti/  She also helped found the Sooner Stelettos who help students by role-modeling rather than just mentoring.    More information about the stelettos is at http://www.oufoundation.org/sm/spring09/story.asp?ID=325  This is just a partial list of her many accomplishments.

The Cross Timbers Rotary Club is proud to have her as an honorary member.
