It is my absolute honor to serve as the President of Cross Timbers Rotary as we celebrate our club’s 25th Anniversary! This club is special in so many ways, but mostly because of our awesome members. We are not a big club, but we are a mighty club! Cross Timbers is a club where each and every member plays a part and is ready to roll up their sleeves and get to work serving our community. Thank you to all of our current and past members, for making this the best club ever. And special thanks to our charter members: Archie, C.E., Jetta, Joe, and Marilyn!
Also, I wanted to share that this year is also the 25th Anniversary of the Norman High School Interact Club, of which I was a charter member. As we progress through this year, let us remember the importance of all of our youth service programs as we imagine the future of Rotary. The passion for Service Above Self is sparked early in life, as evidenced by my own journey with Rotary.
This year marks an significant milestone for Rotary International, as we celebrate the first time in the long history of Rotary that we have a female president, Jennifer Jones. I am also excited to serve under our District Governor Conni Eckstein, a former member of Cross TImbers, who will no doubt make this year memorable. I am proud to boast that our club is 50% woman. To compare, our own District 5770 is 35% women, but globally only 25% of our members are women.
I am also proud that our club is one that embraces diversity, and hope to expand on these initiatives this year. As Rotarians it is our job to invite new people to this remarkable organization that has members of all races, religions, and backgrounds in our mission of Service Above Self. Let's continue our celebration all year long as we IMAGINE ROTARY, and bring a friend.
